Post-famine Irish vernacular architecture

The final talk in the North Clare Historical Society’s current series is by Dr Marion McGarry on Tuesday 9th April 2019 at 8pm. 

Dr McGarry says, "This talk discusses Irish vernacular rural houses from the post Famine era until the early twentieth century. Some of the typical architectural features that emerged at that time will be explored alongside some regional variations, examples of Irish vernacular furniture and the culture and rituals in the home."

Biography: Dr Marion McGarry is a lecturer at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology Letterfrack and an independent historical researcher. She is the author of three books including The Irish Cottage: History Culture and Design (2017); An Illustrated Dictionary of Furniture & Interiors and co-author of See The Wood from The Trees (2018).
