Based in Melbourne, Bakker works across a range of media - drawing, object, installation and photography. Bakker's practice explores the tensions between the fragmentary and the whole, the micro and the macro, the momentary and the enduring, and the impossible desire to hold on to what is fleeting and transitory. The artist has previously participated in projects in Australia, Japan, Thailand, the Netherlands and Austria.
He will be in residence at the Gallery throughout July and August, and will give a public talk about his practice during his stay. www.jeremybakker.com
