Join us for these two events in Ennistymon to mark National Heritage Week 2018
The Courthouse Gallery and Studios and Old Ennistymon Heritage will host a public launch of a new calendar and postcards featuring old images of the area, and a brochure for a self-guided walking tour of Ennistymon’s historic shop and pub fronts during National Heritage Week 2018, which will take place from 18-26 August.
Over the past decade the society has held a number of major photographic exhibitions in the gallery, and is now making a selection of these images available to the public as mementoes and reminders of times past in the locality, following receipt of community grant funding from Clare County Council.
These will be launched on Thursday, 23rd August, at 8pm in The Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon.
Ennistymon’s Historic Shop & Pub Fronts: A Self-Guided Walking Tour, will be launched on Saturday 25th August at 5pm with a guided tour led by Brendan P. Lynch, musician, writer and artist, whose knowledge of the town’s vernacular shop fronts, their former inhabitants and their trades, offers a rare insight into the town’s past.
There may be even be a tune or two along the way!
The gathering point is outside The Courthouse Gallery and Studios on the day.
The brochure will be available in shops, restaurants, B&Bs and hotels in the area and is funded by the Creative Ireland Programme 2017-2022.
