The Old Ennistymon Society presents INSIDE OUT 1988 for Heritage Week, preview at 6 pm, Friday, 11th Aug 2023 at The Courthouse Gallery and Studios in The Red Couch Gallery. We will also launch our 2024 calendar based on the exhibition on Saturday the 12th of August at 3 pm.

In 1988, Alex Browne, a photography enthusiast with a great interest in community development, and Anthony Edwards, then librarian in Ennistymon Public Library and co-founder of the North Clare Historical Society, decided to record the interiors of some of the houses and shops of Ennistymon. They also photographed the interior of the Falls Hotel, capturing the famous murals many of which have since disappeared, as indeed have most of the scenes depicted in their collection, which is available to view on Clare County Library’s website.
