Artists Talk, Sunday, 2nd Feb at 2pm

The Courthouse Gallery & Studios is pleased to host Selma Makela and The Headford Lace Project at 2 pm Sunday the 2nd of February.

Selma Makela will give a talk on the Heritage/ art project 'Blown-in' that she undertook in Headford in 2016, and how Makela then developed this research to set up The Headford Lace Project in collaboration with Ester Kiely.

The talk will look at the aims of the initial art project, the heritage of the Lace and Flax in Headford and then will continue with Ester Kiely as to where The Headford Project has developed since with current members of The Headford Lace giving a display. They will also have a display of lacework and some bobbin work to view.

Headford Lace Project is a voluntary community initiative established to research, revive, and re-imagine the lace-making heritage of Headford, County Galway, a town in the west of Ireland whose lace industry originated c.1766. We achieve our objectives through workshops, demonstrations, community collaborations, and events that inspire.
