The North Clare Historical Society will hold its next talk on Monday 26th February when Dr David Fleming will deliver a talk entitled
The Mass rock: myth or reality?'

The mass rock and the hunted priest is synonymous with Ireland's penal laws. Yet how much do we actually know about Catholic religious practices in eighteenth-century Ireland? Dr David Fleming (Department of History, University of Limerick) will examine the myths and realities associated with mass rocks, and reveals a very different story than the one we have been told.
Dr David Fleming is a lecturer in history at the University of Limerick and course director of its very successful MA in Local History.
The venue for the talk is The Courthouse Gallery & Studios, Ennistymon and the time is 8pm.
