The Courthouse Gallery & Studios invited you to pop into the gallery this Sat June 17th to participate in an upcoming audio artwork, See Hear, an art project by artist, Michael McLoughlin that endeavours to record the names of everyone living in Ennistymon and present them as part of an exhibition in The Courthouse Gallery & Studios this autumn.
Ennistymon is a continuously changing and diverse place that continues to welcome new arrivals to our community seeking rest, refuge and the love of neighbours, friends, and family. This artwork will celebrate this. See Hear is an art project that acknowledges community, diversity, openness, and support while presenting a mechanism for participation and collective activity and that sense of belonging.
If you’d like to get involved, the process only takes a minute, you simply say your name into a microphone. Michael will then process them in the studio to create the artwork. This recording will form the bases of the final artwork which will be launched as part of the Courthouse Gallery’s Autumn programme.
Michael will be hosting drop-in recording sessions at the Courthouse Gallery & Studios on:
• Saturday, June 17th 11 am to 3 pm
• Wednesday, June 21st 10 am to 1 pm
• Wednesday, June 28th 10 am to 1 pm
Also, between June 18th and June 30th local artist Jarlath Slattery will be calling to local clubs and businesses to record.
The project is kindly funded by Culture Ireland, The Arts Council of Ireland and Clare Co. Council.
