I paint for internal sensations of calm and connection to myself and the world. Influenced by places and objects I gravitate towards in the every day, the silent medium of paint attempts to echo contemplative moments as thrilling and emotive ones. These surfaces present themselves as skewed and mystical versions of actual experience as if turned inside out. These are flawed reflections of ideal forms or unnatural depictions of natural phenomena. As the experience enters and leaves me, what is left behind is a painted composition which becomes an entirely distinct phenomena to experience.
